Weekend stuff

This weekend has been pretty fantastic. On Friday night, I had my first concert with the OSU Jazz Ensemble. I feel that it was pretty solid, and the vibe that night was just feeling good for some reason. Being in the OSU Jazz Ensemble is pretty great, but also intimidating at the same time. I am the only freshman in the saxophone section, and one of 5 freshman in the whole band. In a lesson with Professor Wallace, he told me that freshman don't normally make that band. It kind of shows me that the hard work that I've put into playing the instrument has paid off, but it also reminds me that I have a LONG way to go. The rest of the people in the band are killin'. Especially in the saxophone section. Those cats really know what's up. Another thing that keeps me on my feet is the fact that these bands are auditioned for every quarter, so this isn't in any way permanent, and that if I don't keep it up, someone else could come up and take my spot. (Which is what I am not hoping for at all). Enough about the concert and music. If you want to check out the concert, here is a link: http://www.mediafire.com/?9vc2vjjdxmi17 I recommend checking out Georgia. That one swings extra hard ;) (That's a joke, since it features me. But still, check that one out along with the rest of them.)

After the concert, I went home for the weekend, which is where I am writing my blog from. I decided last week that I wanted to go home, since I have been busy with all kinds of stuff in college and haven't been able to come home since I left for college. So one Skype call to my mom later, and I was able to come home. (Now if only she would hop on the Facebook bandwagon...) It's been nice. I came home to a very pleasant hole in the ceiling and these enormous, loud-ass dryers that have been going nonstop. A few days earlier, my youngest brother had let the toilet overflow while he was in the shower, and that caused a fair amount of water damage, so we're trying to get that squared away. Anyway, so today, I just ended up running a bunch of errands with Joshua. Went to the store (where I got called over to register 8 over the loudspeaker to talk to a parent of a friend of mine), Got some stuff for my saxophone (which I still need to find a decent alto to borrow for my group- I'll be writing about them soon), got a haircut (don't give me the "you don't have any hair" crap. It was looking tacky, so I had to do something about it), went to the mall and got this badass pair of jeans, then went and got food and came home, where I've just been hanging out this whole time. Then I realized "Daylight Savings Time does something this weekend! I don't care what it does, but I get an extra hour of sleep!", which is why I'm up at 1:46, because in 14 minutes, it's just gonna be 1 again. But it's back to campus for me tomorrow. I'll be back home for Thanksgiving (lots of food for the price of on the house... a college kid's dream), then getting stuff for exams taken care of. YEAH BUDDY!

And now my blog is turning into me telling you about my life, which is what I didn't want it to become. I'm gonna let it slide this time, in case the reader doesn't know about my life. But there will be no more of this.
